Metrosideros excelsa Variegata is a hardy, stout trunked shrub or small tree with oblong, grey/green leaves and spectacular crimson pincushion or pom-pom type flowers that are made up of many fluffy stamens.

"Variegata" has yellow edged leaves".Will stand most soils but prefers moist, well-drained conditions. Avoid frosts but will survive in exposed seaside settings. Can be pruned to shape.
